To put it simply,
Estherville is a smaller big city. Let us explain.
Estherville's population is estimated to be 6700.
That is what most would consider to be a small city.
But more than 145,000 people live within a 50 mile
radius of Estherville. During the summertime an
additional 100,000 move into the Lakes Region as
summer residents.
Because we are a
smaller city, we have a low crime rate, safe
neighborhoods and friendly people. Many areas of the
country envy our rural American value system and
work ethic. Our community has good schools, post
secondary institutions that provide two-and
four-year degrees, an excellent health care delivery
system, well run and stable local governments, and a
welcoming approach to newcomers.
Because of summer
tourist influx, many of the amenities found in
larger cities exist here. We have live theater, art
and historical museums, the world's largest county
fair, numerous fine restaurants and night clubs,
tourist theme parks and attractions, some of the
Midwest's finest resort and convention centers and
much more. We have many of the advantages of larger
cities without many of the drawbacks.
Housing is available and affordable in Estherville
and the Iowa Great Lakes Region. Whether you want to
live in a quiet neighborhood in town, on a quiet
lake shore or acreage, or in an exclusive lake shore
development, many choices await you. It is always
easy to get to know your neighbors. And they want to
get to know you.
Most people can live anywhere they want. But the
people who live here choose this area. It's their
character, genuine concern, dedication and
involvement that makes Estherville a city where
people want to live. |
