Mickelson Park by the Des Moines River Built in 1933, the Rock Garden was constructed to be a beautiful area in which to relax by the river. Stones from various towns were brought in to build the masterpiece. The garden was restored in 1996 after flooding damaged much of the area. Emmet County Historical Museum
The Emmet County Historical Museum is located at 1720 3rd Avenue South in Estherville, and it's open 2-5pm during the months of June, July and August. The museum features a number of historical buildings and exhibits showing off the area's rich history. |
Historic Carnegie Library
613 Central Avenue Located in the heart of downtown Estherville, this historic building is over 100 years old. The Des Moines River Water Trail begins its trek through Iowa in Emmet County. Access points in Emmet County are at A17, Tom & Jerry Bridge, 4th Street Bridge, North Riverside Park, School Creek, Riverside Hills, A33, and near Wallingford at the Peterson Access. Regional Wellness Center
415 South 18th Street Open to the public, this recreation center features an Olympic size six-lane lap pool, diving board, 120 foot waterslide and a 7 foot drop slide, a wet deck play area for young children, as well as a state of the art exercise area, a large basketball court, and more. Brugjeld-Peterson Historic Farmstead
The Brugjeld-Peterson family farm is located on east High Lake. It was purchased on June 1, 1861 and the log home was built in 1866. It is one of the oldest, original Norwegian-American farms still in existence in the US. The farmstead was placed on the National Registry of Historic Places in 2000, and includes a restored farmhouse, barn, blacksmith complex and other outbuildings.
